Sacred 1.5 NO-CD WARNING!!

Yesterday I downloaded a supposed crack for Sacred 1.5 from a link in one of the Sacred threads. By all appearances it was a proper crack, but after upgrading to 1.5 and installing the crack, my computer exploded in a veritable Pandora's Box of viruses. I've caught and deleted four on my own, and before it stopped working Norton Antivirus deleted at least three dozen. My system is still a bit wonky, so I don't know if I'm in the clear yet, BUT! Be warned.

I'm not 100% positive it was the crack files, but the problems started literally within a second of trying to run Sacred after installing the crack.

and as far as i know the crack isn't a proper one which means it will trigger the protection on the game itself and you might find yourself in an island where you can do nothing or changed into something.

What was the name of the virus?
I didn't notice anything strange with the one I got hold of (Yes, I have the latest and greatest Norton Antivirus).
Although, when about to download the crack I noticed that several of the mirrors weren't working, plus on one of them the crack was only 2,77MB whilst the real crack should be 5,29MB (mine was).
What I think is weird, is that even though Norton is updated and covering the virus that one gets, it doesn't manage to stop it all of the time (had this happen once a while ago).
I have disabled the Auto-Protect feature to scan within compressed files on it's own, due to the extended time it would take to install games that uses .pak files etc.

This is might be a bit off-topic but, some of the people said that once the crack was released there would be a new version of Sacred out, this proved to be very true, as the patch were out two days after the crack was released.

its probly cause u got the no-cd crack off of KaZaA :P

the three viruses that Norton caught repeatedly were Welchia.B (weird, because I supposedly had the Windows fix to block this), Randex.gen and Gaobot.AO.
The ones I deleted myself I don't know the names of, but they put files in the System32 directory called Navpaw32.exe and msReg32.exe. Both files seemed designed to sit in my task list and suck up all of my CPU cycles.
And no, I didn't download the crack off of kazaa like some noob, I got it from a link in a thread on this very forum, as I said above. The file was ~5Mb as expected, and the file checksum that the game runs after you install the update went through with no problems.

I don't think there is any problem with the crack by immersion.

well i scan the 1.5 crack on my update norton internet sucrity 2004 and no virus found i think u download it on the site that has a virus try download it on gamecopyworld

okay the crack in the OFFICIAL Sacred Thread (1.5 Fix Link) shouldnt be the problem i scanned it here with nav 2004 and kapersky and none of them found a virus on this crack
.but there is more than one thing wrong with your post espacilly that you sayed you found more than one virus in your system because there shouldnt be more than one virus in an executable thats a good indicator that you got it frome somewhere else .also none of my friends or any other one that i know of and that are several reported a virus or something else with this crack.so that leaves two choices: 1. you are just a noob that opens every email attachment and you came here because you didnt know it better or 2. you really work for ascaron or are against cracks and you came here to shock us a little =)

Maybe someone can give me some adivce.. I've updated to 1.5 and then went to patch with the 1.5 eng crack. However all I get is a black screen. Hmmm... any ideas?

Yeah I am having close to the same problem. I can get all the wat till I start to actually play the game and then it fades to black. Any help?
