Cs 1.6 WITHOUT steam ?

I´ve heard someone that you can get counterstrike 1.6 without steam.

IIRC, you can download 1.6 without steam, but I *think* you can only play in LAN.
Don't ask me where I foud this: it was on a German very illegal site (warez and piracy) and I don't remember the URL.

Even if u could i dont think u were supposed to do that... (not legally anyway)

Valve and all the other makers of CS for somereason wants HL to stay on the steam engine (and that sux).

the Friends function of steam is mostly down. I only use steam because my comrades all have 1.6.

Yes there is a version of CS 1.6 without Steam (i have it) but it doesn't work on all online servers. (Try DC++ maybe you are lucky)

got this one, but seems like its origin is japan or something like that, the whole isntallermessages conit only of |||||||||||||||| (only the isntallpath is shown normal).
the game itsself is in english and includes bots.
also it works fine, but its only for lan, you cant play it online.

i'd say its between legal and illegal:
if you have a original of hl or cs the only different is you can now play with this version on lan, if you dont own a original of one of the games, you can play it at lan without problems because it dont need a key.

the filename is cs16full_v4+zbot.exe fave a look at google, think you'll find it, dont have the download link anymore, sorry.
its ~288 MB.

aaah a cs without steam sounds too good to be true :P

Another reason (out of the many) that Steam is crap is because when you want to play a game (like cs) it has to connect! i mean what if i wanna train with bots or a lan? oooh no i have to connect to the mighty steam only to be told its busy and im to try again later o_O

well, gamespy is a browser, not a launcher delio thing. When u join a game, it will open CS using steam, the only way to play CS..... so far

i think russians have hacked steam out of it so i don't think you can find them on an english site.

BUT it doesn't work in every server. only in "hacked" severs which don't require steam identification or smth like that. i play sc without steam in a russian server.

the game itselt though is in english and fully working. you can also use cheating-death with it.

There is a WON Client version of 1.6 out there, but it's beta, and I don't think anyone uses it. You're better off sticking to the original 1.5.

if u want to play on online servers u need cheating-death the newest version and the newest cs1.6 patch v13

You cannot download this anyway, why isnt this thread closed? If u can't Use steam it's something wrong and STEAM works for many, me too! If u don't want STEAM play on WON (1.5)
