Need For speed Underground crashes to desktop

nfs crashes to desktop on me at random times. Anywhere from the 1st race to 4th race. i am running version 1.4 with the no cd crack but i tried it with the original and it did the same thing. I've updated my drivers video and motherboard and it didnt fix it. Im running a athlon 2000+,512 ram, geforce mx440 video card. It is not from over heating i have checked the temps. My computer rans every other game i have installed fine so im at a lsot to why this is happening. Any one else having a problem with this game? or anyone know of a way to fix this problem?

Yeah it does the same thing with the cd so i know its not the crack

Is 1.4 the latest patch ?

Do you have DirectX 9 ??

Yes it is 1.4 and i have directX 9, i also tried reinstalling it.

Try disabling controller vibration (force feedback). It seems to have stopped my random crashes to desktop (so far).
