Hello,
Well i took the moderators' advice and downloaded mandrake. I was able to get it up and running with ease. My only problem is that i can't connect to the internet. I finish my whole setup and the terminal tells me it's connected. But i can't browse or do anything internet related. I'm running on a pppoe connection. I put both of the DNS servers in but still nothing... What could the problem be?
Oh boy.
MDK for sure is going to fux0r up your internet connection drivers - especially on PPPOE. Well, don't follow the mods' advice - follow mine ... as you can see from my title :D
Try configuring the drivers manually and not through KDE/MDK's crappy user interface versions. Compile support for your drivers and stuff into the kernel, reinstall the kernel (and if you're running lilo then reinstall lilo) and then edit your pppoe config files (wherever they may be located) and then you should be good to go. If not, come back and talk to us to see what your problem could be.
The above was said to make sure you do the FIRST steps correctly.

btw i totally support Bush although i'm not an american citizen :) although my grandfather and uncle are.
Good thing you're going to be using an alright distro now.
Just be forwarned: Slackware is VERY hard to manage and is NOTHING as easy as MDK. Mandrake is TOO easy and it really has its faults for that. I would chose Debian instead. While the installer is more average than Slackware (by average I mean harder) it's a much better distro.
I use Gentoo. If you know a basic Linux command-line, you should do fine with Gentoo. You compile the entire OS completely from source and it has a package management system called "emerge" which downloads and compiles and then installs software for you, it has over 80,000 packages to chose from. It's definitely the best distro for a novice to advanced linux user. It may seem confusing, but if you just read the docs carefully and follow the instructions, it's much easier than you think. The first time through may be a bit scarey, but it's actually not that hard. You learn about anything you'd want to know about Linux through the install:
www.gentoo.org
Whatever you chose, I will be happy if you get rid of Mandrake. MDK = WinXP with suckmycomputerKDE (worst WM ever).
Just remember, while Slackware is just as fast as Gentoo, it is a binary distro, it has NO package management whatsoever, and there's little-to-no community for it.
