I tried to make a copy of the original prince of persia usin clonecd abd it stack at 47% while reading the protection
I took out the original to see if it has any scar and it had!
The problem is I played the game before and it was working properly. Now when I put it on it doesn't work!
Did I make that scar while touching it? or can a cd brake wwile trying to 'win' its protection?
Confused!
Probally while touching it, i dont think the CD would scratch in your system unless you had a mucked up drive.

The process of copying a cd doesnt damage the cd and while a cd drive can damage the cd, it's more likely that it was scratched when you touched it or that the cd has dirty and got scratched when it started spining in the drive. Try cleaning it using something soft

There are ways to fix a scratched CD (if the scar is not too deep)
But to answer your question, yes, a CD-Rom drive can screw up your CD if it's old and malfunctioning.
You can also send the scretched original to the game company... they'll probably replace it for free.

Make sure there is no 'grit' on the CD drive tray, that has been known to scratch disks.

Try and clean your cd, it often helps.
