I've made a back-up of my C&C Renegade game, but when I try to use the disc's to install the game. I get "Please Insert The Renegade Game Disc Into CD-ROM" error message. I'm pretty sure I've and burned it correctly, as I have backed-up all of my other games with no problems.

Rip the disc with ISOBuster - Burn with Recordnow Max

I tried CloneCD, CDRWIN, Alcohol 120, all with the same results.

Any thoughts?

Backup protection - it detects that the cd isn't original

You obviously didn't make a 1:1 copy (if that is possible at all)

You need a crack, get a backup or no-cd crack @ www.megagames.com/gcracks.html (http://www.megagames.com/gcracks.html)

Renegade has SafeDisk 2 IIRC. Make sure your writer is supported by cloneCD
check that here:
http://www.xlsoft.com/jp/products/clonecd/a.html

If it is, try burning the game with Fast Error Skip option enabled, and at very low speed (2x)
Otherwise, you'll need a crack. Check all of the links at www.helpseek.net

THX for the replies guys...but it's not a matter of just getting a no-cd crack for the game. It won't even install. Everytime I put the first disc into my drive, and it auto-runs. That's when I get the error message.

"Please Put The Renegade Game Into Your CD-ROM"

I mean, I've seen this kind a error message after the game is installed, and yes, that's when you use a no-cd crack. But I get this error message when I'm just trying to install the game. I've read that Westwood, the game maker, is bad for doing something to the set-up .exe. Not sure what it is though.

And as far as C&C Generals goes. I had the same problem when I tried to install it too. Just copy all of disc 1 to a folder, and copy the data2.cab file from disc 2 to the same folder. Then just run the set-up from that folder. It won't ask for the second cd, and the install will run to 100%.
