I open up Windows Explorer a lot and I like to have the status bar on the bottom. Sometimes it shows up, sometimes it doesn't. I know all you have to do is go to View>Status Bar but dammit I don't want to do that every time and it bugs me. :gun2:

Is there a way to permanently set it so it is always displayed? Thanks for any help.

btw I'm running WinXP Pro with all updates.

With only one IE window open, click View > Status Bar.
Hold down the Ctrl key and click the close button ( X )
That should save your setting.

Yup, the settings will also remain if you close manually via File (menu)-->Close ;)

For some that doesn't solve it, like for me.

Then you have to go to My Computer -> Tools -> Folder Options, then view tab.

Now make sure Status bar is active, then press the button "apply to all folders"
That helped me.

But now you already solved it the easy way ;)

Edit: I tried both File -> Close and Ctrl + close and that seems to do it ;)
