I just installed BF1942 1.6 and when I start it up, everything has moved to the bottom right of my screen, it has all just shifted only when I play this game. Everything just kinda moved a few inches to the bottom right.
I played 1.5 about 5 hours before I upgraded to 1.6 and it worked perfect. I have ATI Radeon 9500 on Windows XP 2.4 GHz.
I when to windowsupdate.com and installed a ATI driver restarted computer and everything. I have also reinstalled the bf1942 installer for 1.6
I think if nobody has a good answer here, I will reinstall BF1942 completely

yes this only happens on BF1942 1.6. It happens in no other program or anything like that.
Since my 1st post, I have reinstalled the ATI driver, reinstalled BF1942 and upgraded to 1.5. I worked fine on version 1.5. 10 minutes ago, I upgraded to 1.6 and it did the same thing again, the whole screen just kinda moves some to the bottom right. I can see some of the stuff but not a lot of it. I have a 18.1 LCD Dell DVI monitor and when I try to repostion itin the game, it says repostion not needed. While in the game, I as able to go into settings>video and press default even though I had never touched the video settings before. That doesn't change anything.
Now here is the really weird part, when I took a screen shot to put on this reply, the screen shot looks like it should! It doesn't look like BF1942 is moved down to the right or anything! I tryed to attach the pic but there were errors so it isn't attached. It looks like a normal BF1942 screen shot of the menu and in the bottom left, it even says BF1942 1.6.
Please help!

I have the latest driectx but I will try to reinstall it right now and as for g card, I don't know what that means!? so right now I will reinstall directx and hopefully you can tell me what a g card is. I also have all of the windowsupdate.com patches.
I also attached the pic I talked about before in a different format.

yeah I reinstalled the latest driver for my ATI radeon 128MB 9500hm................don't know what the prob is. I just updated my BF just yesterday to 1.6 and it's running just fine. Sure you mentioned everything that needed to be mentioned? I would just try to adjust the screen size from one of the buttons on the monitor and get it to fit that way. Sorry.:(

I reinstalled directx it didn't do anything different that I noticed. I don't think it is my monitor and I can't change the postion ofthe screen because my digital monitor says that its postion is fine

Try setting your desktop resolution to whatever resolution you run BF in. I know sometimes when I change resolutions the screen shifts and I can't see some of it.
But your monitor won't let you manually adjust the screen position? Or is it trying to do it for you and giving you a message that it's fine?

I changed my desktop resolution from 1280 by 1024 to 800 by 600 which is the game settings. The same thing happened, the screen shifted to the bottom right. My digital monitor says "postion not nessecary" so I can't change it. I have never changed since I got the monitor 11 months ago because the setup was perfect. I don't think it is the monitor.
I sent a email to EA's support hopefully they will give me some answers

I fixed the problem, EA sent me this email, I tryed it and it works!
This is for the people who might have the same problem as well:
This is caused by the manner in which the 1.6 patch interacts with ATI video cards using DVI. To allow the game to be run such that the main menu is not oversized the following changes need to be made*:
1. Double Click My Computer
2. Double Click C:\
3. Double Click Program Files
4. Double Click EA GAMES
5. Double Click Battlefield 1942
6. Double Click Mods
7. Double Click bf1942
8. Double Click Settings
9. Right-Click VideoDefault.con and choose Open (if prompted for a program to use select Wordpad)
10. Edit the line renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 1 to renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 0
11. Save and Close the file.
This will cause the game to run with the main menu at the proper resolution.
*Please note by following the steps above the game must be run with a refresh rate of 60hz. Running the game at a higher refresh rate will result in a crash following a black screen when attempting to start the game.
