I recieved a hastilly written readme file with a crack for a piece of software. One of the instructions is to:
"Copy .dat to .exe" - how would one go about doing this?
The .dat and .exe files are in the same folder and directory. renaming the .dat file ".exe.dat" did nothing. I am sure it must be something either very simple or very complicated that I do not understand.
does anyone understand what is meant by this?

How To:

ar.exe from FairLight is provided if needed.
0) Install the game, FULL.
1) If you have already entered a CDKEY, to install spell force patchs (1.03,1.05) remove this value from registry:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uni nstall\SpellForce\CDKEY
You can search for the valuename "CDKEY" if you need to.
2) Copy SpellForce.dat to SpellForce.exe (if your using FairLight release)
3) Install 1.05 Patch
4) Copy ar.exe to ar_orig.exe
5) Extract ar.exe from this archive, overwrite ar.exe in gamedir
6) Launch spellforce_c.exe
7) Re-enter CDKEY, You can still use 08AFX-.... key from FairLight, I've not unlocked the 10 others blacklisted keys...too lazy.
If you have troubles installing patch 1.05 (file checking), install patch 1.03 before 1.05,continue with step 5.
Note : If you have a file named spellforce.dat in you gamedir remove it or the game will not launch...
