Should bo ,as far as I know the v9 case is the same as a v4-v7 ps2 so the flip lid will work and the swap magic should aswell.Aint heard anything about it not booting.

Aint really the best solution for playing backups though.Chip is better

I don't think the Swap magic discs are compatible with the V9 consoles. You better do some research.

Says there

This is the latest version and compatibility has been added for the latest PS2 console - V9 board/model no.SCPH-5000X(US version is not compatible with V9 board/model no.SCPH-5000X).

So it should work.

thanks guys,I do think a chip (DMS3)would be better but dont you have to solder something like 22 wires.I have some soldering exp.but i dont want to wreck my ps2 and i have found no good instructions on the net.and sending it away is out of the question.what should i do should i chance installing it myself?

Have a look at the diagrams ,see if you think you can do it ,note that the diagrams are blown up a bit ,and the points are alot smaller than they seem.

If you don't want to send it out ,find a computer fair ,most have at least one place doing chipping.
