Right this aint a prob ,just need to know something. When I was installing xp fresh ,with a 40gb ide hardrive and a 120gb sata drive ,it only picked up the ide one ,untill windows had been installed and the sata controller drivers installed ,then the windows picked it up.Same thing happened on my other board the xp setup only checked the standard ide ports ,not the other one's on the board that were controlled by the raid controller. Now it don't really matter as I have a ide one that it will always check, but what if I only had the sata drive ,how would I get it to see that to install fresh. As when it install it says if you have any third party raid or something else drivers press f4 now ,which I had to do and insert a floppy ,to get it to pick up the hardrive on the raid ide ports on the my old board when I installed it ,so I assume I would do the same with a sata drive. But when you do that it only looks for the drivers on the floppy disc ,yet my new board had them on cd ,so how would you make it see it?

How big are the drivers on your cd? If they are small enough, see if you can copy them to a disk or something. try it that way.

It aint a problem ,I don't need to copy any drivers from disc ,everythign here is fine I just wanna know and copying drivers from disc aint a good enough way lets put it this way then.

You just bought a new pc ,put everything together boot up and you have a sata drive. So the windows installation don't pick it up ,you only have drivers on disc and cannot put them on a floppy. How do you make it pick it up as it won't search the cd drive for them.

Do have another computer you could possibly use to quickly transfer from cd to floppy and then try it on the new computer? Just a thought.:grayrolle

There is no prob, windows is all install and working fine as I had a ide drive that it picked up and install windows ,then install the sata driver in windows.

What I want to know is how would you get the windows setup to pick up the sata drive so you could install on that if it was your only drive.I checked all them sites and they all say ,press F6 to install 3rd party drivers ,and then give it the floppy ,then it will pick up the sata driver.Which is all good if you drivers are on floppy ,but mine wern't they was on cd ,which the xp setup don't check. So I want to know how you would over come this problem ,if you didn't have another drive that was ide.

And again I will say ,there is no problem my pc is working fine ,I just want a awnser to the above question.

At instalation windows xp tells you if you have a Raid HDD press a key (don't remember what key because i don't have raid) .. so just press that key.
