Ok..I got this nasty little trojan virus over the weekend. I run Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition and Zone Alarm Pro. This little bugger managed to disable Norton and screw up Zone Alarm..At first I thought the software got hosed up somehow..so I uninstalled Norton and Zone Alarm..rebooted and reistalled..that seemed to fix Zone Alarm..but Norton would not complete the install...read me an error like "You do not have administrative priveleges required to to this action" I also have Norton Internet Security 2003..so I tried to install it instead..everything installed fine but the antivirus side..which came back and said it encountered an internal error and can not be enabled..Getting alittle frustrated I downloaded a free copy of AVG. Ran it and found I did indeed had 2 downloader.xxx trojan viruses which promptly removed them...ok..here is the deal...I am puzzled why Norton did not catch this trojan before it could do damage..I had all the current updates and is scheduled to do a daily scan...this virus definition even exists on Symantec's website..and it isn't a new one. So my question is this: Does anything get hosed up by running 2 antivirus software at the same time...in my case..Norton and AVG. I figure if Norton doesn't detect problems for some reason...AVG will.. :disturbed

i use Norton 2003. it detects a virus as soon as i get it and them promptly removes them before the damage is done.
it must be a problem with your settings like auto protect was enabled...

I don't understand why Norton didn't pick them up if it was updated , unless something is wrong in your configurations for it .

You should not run 2 AVs at a time , they can cause problems with one and another , but you can use one like Norton as a main scanner always running , and use AVG or something else as an on demand backup scanner whenever you think something might be wrong run it to check .

absolutely :D however anyone who relies on symantec system takeover software needs to understand that it is A: ok for what it does B: a bastard memory hog and C: A piece of vile trash that should go into to the bin with windows me :D .. Sorry but norton IMHO sucks donkey, I have always hated symantec products (norton this norton that etc, for a very long time)
