Max Payne 2 Crashes

When playing Max Payne 2, and proceeding to the next chapter immediately after talking to Mona Sax in the shower of her fun-house type place of home, the game closes and returns back to the desktop. I have installed the v1.01 patch, but still have this problem. Any ideas how I can fix this please?

i had alot of probs with max payne 2 i solved it by slowing dwn my cpu speed. try that
