Unreal 2 XMP doens't need a crack, it just needs the cd to install not to play

There is a crack for it by gimpsrus ,from the nfo it says

after downloading the setup, patch it using the included u2xmpp.exe. The setup will no
longer require you to insert a valid Unreal 2 CD in order to install. The game itself is fully
stand-alone and needs no CD at all.

but I will not post it untill I speak with a mod or admin as it may not be legal as you suppose to have unreal 2 ,to use the mutliplayer.

I downloaded it but when I run it it just flashes up a dos window quickly and then it dissappears. What am I doing wrong?!?!?!

Open a command prompt, navigate to directory where you have the files.
Run it from there.

And that's all. Nothing happens... I've tried to run the u2xmp setup to see if it has been patched, but it keeps asking for the play CD (jeez!)

I aint tested it myself ,but the crack aint been nuked.but if you run it look at what it says,


Usage: u2xmpp.exe <setup executable>

You have to use it like that ,so go to where ever the u2xmpp.exe is in the command prompt ,then type u2xmpp.exe (setup file name).

Then press enter ,obvisly no brackets and replace setup file name with whatever the set file is called

It's free ,but it wants the original u2 cd to install.This makes it install without the original cd ,so you don't have to go and dig out your original copy of unreal 2.

This works a treat, thanks very much.

You have to make sure the patch and the setup.exe are in the same place to be sure it works. I had to run it in a command prompt as well.

You can also right click on the crack , and change the shortcut to <crackname> <setup name> . Then is works without opening a command window.

If it doesn't work at all, try to drag-and-drop the files onto the command prompt. That worked fine for me... Remember : the setup and the crack must be in the same directory.

Try draging the xmp setup file to the crack's file.
If that doesnt work you have to use the command prompt:
go to start->run, type "cmd" (without the quotes) and hit ok.
while in the command line go to the directory where you have the crack and the xmp setup(you need to have them both in the same directory),
now type "u2xmpp " followed by the setup's filename
(for example if the xmp setup is named "xmpsetup.exe" you have to type "u2xmpp xmpsetup.exe"
if it is "xmp.exe" you have to type "u2xmpp xmp.exe" without the quotes of course)

Okay, this looks soooo easy, I have no idea why I cant do it :(

I did everything you said but when I type 'c:\test\1.exe.exe 2.exe.exe', a line comes up that says 'Could not open file 2.exe.exe for patching!'

ok this is simple, for EVERYONE not abbreviated in anyway, first make a short cut to to the crack by right clicking on it, click on send to then click on send to desktop, then right click no the shortcut it just placed on the desktop and in the target box, make space after the last quotation mark then put in the XMP file name click on apply (make sure they both in same directory) then get out of the properties box and double click on the shortcut and it will be patched :)

Well, this way didnt work, it just made a shortcut to the xmp setup...
My really big prolem is that when i use the prompt command way it says that could not open the file to patch... well whut i do ??? :confused:
