PC Grandia 2 urgent help!

I recently bought a copy of Grandia 2, thing is it doesn't work! I have twice the specs needed almost (Duron 750mhz, 192 megs ram, 32 meg 3D Prophet II Mx) but the game freezes unrecoverably at the first dialogue box! Not only that the sound skips a lot up until that point and the computer accesses the CD drive far more than is healthy (The CD is perfect and not scratched)
I've update my Sound Driver, GFX drives, everything, I'm at my wits end please help!

Try updating the game itself, or maybe see if lowering the game settings help (even though you have more then the requirements)
