Hey guys, whats going on?
I have a sort of emergency. I sold off my computer parts on ebay and I was supposed to have shipped them sat. but my burner went out so I cant back anything up on it until I get a working burner. Very interesting what messed it up, will post about it later.

But I need to buy a DVD Burner in a couple hours or less.

Anyways,I thought if I am going to spend the money for a new CDRW drive, why not do DVD BURNER.

So What I wanted to know is if you guys could recommend a top notch burner, well a few of them, and tell me what features it has and what makes it the best and maybe the best out of the lot.

I have heard that a dual format ( is that right?) is what I want. People have told me that dual format buners will read CDR+ and CDR-.

Also, just wondering what is the most common media to use for say making back up copys of your dvd movies that regular dvd players will read or backups of your console games where your consoles will read them.

I guess the IMPORTANT thing now is what brands or brand is the best , and why and what features do they have or what features do I need to look for.

If I could get some info on this asap that would be wonderful since I need to go buy one in less than 2 hours. Thanks.

P.s. Also, should I get one new on ebay later on or should I get one retail were I can get an extended warranty?

Do these things last for a long time or do they go out a lot?

I would suggest the pioneer A06/106. Dual format dvd burner, burns both +R and -R at X4, and it can also burn CDrs.

I would suggest buying it new.
I have the Pioneer A05, had it more or less 1 year now, had no problems with it.

Would agree with that JM ... I have had the 105 for a long time now and have never had a problem with it, as of yet, and have had excellent results with both movie & game backups. I am thinking of upgrading to the 106 myself .. but .. am a bit reluctant to change from my " tried and trusted " 105 :D

I can get it new on ebay for a lot less but what I am saying is should I buy it new Retail like at compusa or someplace where I can get a 2 year or so replacement warranty?

ALSO, How is the plextor? I saw that it did 8X?

ALSO, So All Dvd Drives Burn DVRW Also or is that just with the Pioneer?

Lol and one more also, if I am going to be doing a lot of cdr burning, should I get a cdr Burner also to reduce the wear on my dvd burner? Thanks.

P.S. Also, whats the difference between the 105 and 106? Speed or features? Just wondering. Whats the Pioneer that is currently on the shelves retail?
