For some reason or another black ice kept on giving me an error saying its disabled and cannot start up again. so i uninstalled it. but now everytime i start up the computer it tells me that it can't find some file and black ice can't start. how do i get it to not load when the comp boots up? if it helps i'm using win2k

try looking in the registry for any keys associated with blackice and removing them. Try looking at hkey_local_machine\software\network ice\ (and delete anything if its there) then look at hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\curr entversion\run and see if there is any reference to it there. Check the start menu to see if the shortcut is still there in startup (where mine is but im running XP). Also check the win.ini file (probably nothing there but it doesnt hurt to check)

Hope that helps :)

nehkid, there is a .bat file in the blackice directory that must be run to remove the OS-hooks. I think blackice replaces some system files with its own ones.

If you deleted the blackice directory you have to reinstall it (possibly on another computer and move the file-tree).

I think if I recall correcly that blackice did not remove the directory itself when uninstalling, or possibly becuase I did not unistall in the correct way. Becuase I just booted up with F8 and into dos-mode, cd program\blackicesomething, dir*.bat then run the most likely one. :-)
