Need help with Doom 3 Alpha! Low FPS with Radeon 9800

Hey Megegames.. I need help with the Doom 3 Alpha 0.2..
People with Nvidia card seems to ruin the game without any probs. but my system wont run it in high FPS.

I got Amd Thunderbird 1,2 GHZ, 256 DDR, Ati Radon 9800 PRO 256.

The game runs constantly at 15-20 fps, no matter what doomconfig i run with. Even the lowest quality settings...

Other perople with geforce only 64 ram, runs the game very smooth.. Has it something to do with, thaqt the alpha only is supported by Nvidia cards? I seriously want to play the Alpha...! I wanna see the muscles of Radeon 9800 PRO!

Its only an alpha. I hate to dissapoint you but that might be the best fps your gonna get. I know people who played it at around 12 fps and its not that big so I reckon just put up with it (btw I get around 25 fps with a geforce 4 ti 4200)

runs about 25fps for me. but like arbagan said that is going to be the best ur gonna get. looks like we will have to wait for the final release before we can slate this game :p

I also hate to tell you, but your lacking processing power. Your going to want 2ghz+ for the new DX9 games, even more so with your vid card. You wont be able to take adavantage of the power of that card as is.

on a via kt-400 chip set

I get 25-27 fps...

Ye it would be. Serious lack of cpu power and your graphics card isnt really good enough either. BTW the alpha doesnt officially support any type of cards (not sure what theyre using to develop it with but its probably tailered for that specific card).
