Need help with copying DVD and PS2 Games

I have just bought a DVD Writer

It came with Nero Express and Win Cinema.

How do I copy the DVD's and the PS2 Games with this software?

Seems stupid, but I need to know before I waste my time experimenting. I have got Verbatim DVD+RW discs.

OK, one of the easyest and quickest way to backup a dvd9 is to use dvd decrypter and dvd shrink.

Both programs are freewere .

If the original dvd is a dvd5 then all you do is go dvd decrypter > mode > iso > read. When thats done do the same but select mode > iso > write.Load the iso and burn back to a disc

To backup ps2 dvd rom games you can ether do the same as above with dvd decrypter.Or you can use record now max, i would say for ps2 games record now max is the better option.

Oi i forgot to mention, in case you dont know, if your operating systems file format is Fat32 you wont beable to make a image thats bigger than 4GB, but you can set dvd decrypter to split a iso, so you could tell it to split it ever two GB.
If you OS file format is NTFS then you dont need to worry.

I have downloaded these two programs, but find it quite diffficult to use. I have a DVD Writer Combo, I don't have a separate DVD Drive so I would imagine I have to create a image on my HDD or what? Could you please assist me as it is a little different from writing normal CDR discs!!!! Which program do I use. If both, which one first. How do I burn the DVD etc.

OK, put your dvd film in your dvd drive/writer. Now open dvd decrypter and select your source with is your drive.Then go mode > file.Then go edit > select all.Now set your destination, then click on decrypt. Now the program will rip all the files from the dvd to your destination on your hdd.
Once done open dvd shrink and click on open files.Now browse to the folder you ripped the disc to and select the video_ts.ifo. Leave it for a mo to load all the files. Then just follow that guide i just linked to and you should be fine.

This will create a .iso, which you can burn with dvd decrypter.Or you can burn your files with Nero or Record Now Max.

Now if the original dvd film is 4.37GB or under, and for ps2 games all you need to do is ....
Open dvd decrypter then go mode > iso > read.Then select your source and destination and then click decrypt. Then after take the dvd out of the drive, pop in your blank, then in dvd decrypter go to mode > iso > write. Select your source, which in this case will be the .iso, select your destination.Under settings in the bottom left select write more > dvd, record speed is down to you.Then click on write. Wait until finished , job done.

PS2 games can also be backed up with Nero or Record Now Max, i would say record now max is better for ps2 dvd games than nero.

This is good. BUT BUT BUT I might seem to be I am a as we call it in South Africa "A GROOT MA SE DOOS POEPHOL" which means an idiot, but I still can't get this damn thing to work. I have printed so many instruction pages but ++++ still can't figure this beast out.

Help me Please.
I have got Verbatim DVD+RW discs 4.7GB 2.4x certified etc.

I have Win XP
I have DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink.
I also have Nero Express.

Please tell me what the .... should I do. I am desperate. I have spent so many hours trying to figure this out, maybe I am dumb, but if you have the patience to help I would appreciate it.

Whats the the compleat problem. I.E .. you decrypt.shrink , burn but it does'nt play in your standalone???
Do you get any error messages ???

I rip with Decrypt. I then use Shrink to backup. After backup all that is on the disc is the same files as the decrypt stage. (Video_TS, Video TS_01 etc.) Thats all thats on the disc and it won't play. I am in Region 2 South Africa (PAL) so I don't know if its the discs I'm using, do the discs need to be formatted (it does ask me to format so I do). But that is all thats on the disc. It has no folders on the disc just the same files as the decrypt files on my HDD.

OK, i think i see two problems.
The new compressed files that dvd shrink gave you need to all be in a folder called VIDEO_TS (in capitals).Also i know my standalone does'nt read RW discs only R discs.

For this nero express way you dont have to create a video_ts folder as nero will do it for you.

Now i dont use nero express, in fact i dont use nero for buring dvds. But as thats all you have do this.
Open nero express.Then select your writer in the drop down at the top right, then in the box on the right select dvd-video files. Now you should see two folders audio_ts and video_ts, double click on the video_ts folder,then click add on your right. Now add all the new authored files.Once you've added all the files click finished.
Now click next, give your disc a title where it says disc name.Select your write speed and then click burn.

Glad to hear you got your films working.

Now ps2 games dont need shrinking.All you have to do is dvd decrypter > mode > iso > read. When thats finished, go dvd decrypter > mode > iso > write.

Thats it ...... Oh remember if your hard drive is fat32 you will have to set the iso to split.You have to do this in the options of dvd decrypter, under the iso tab.
If you hard drive is ntfs, dont worry just about spliting.


PS... there are a couple of ps2 games on dvd9's , now you cant shrink them in the way you can films, you have to remove move's etc... never done one before as theres only metal gear solid substance and zenosaga which are dvd9s as far as i know.

just use dvdshrink beta 3 and nero 6.0.0.23 or clonedvd. I make copies of dvd movies for a while now works perfect. make with shrink a backup to harddisk and after start nero and copy those files to the video_ts map in de video dvd screen of ner and burn away.

for ps2 all you have to do is use nero , use the wizard and just copy dvd and you have a perfect copy

Or you can create an image file of the dvd or ps2 dvd onto your hard drive using nero. Once that image file is created, just burn that image file onto a blank Dvd-r. This is what I always do and it works like a charm.

Can anyone please tell me what to do if you have a fat32 hard drive....other than making 2 images....please help
