Star Wars-kotor Keeps Crashing

hey dudes
im having some problem with Kotor
after the first quest the game starts to get REALLY SLOW
till it tilts and crashes
is anybody having the same problem or know how to solve it?

256 mb-ram
gf4 ti 4400

[NorthViking]

Update graphic card and look for a new game patch.
