Well, I'm not so much a newbie in that I've never used an emulator before (i've been using 'em on my PC for like, 4 years now), but i'm a newbie in knowing how to use one on a console system. What I need are virus-free emulators (note: ones that actually WORK and aren't plagued by bugs and stuff) and utilities that I can use on a RETAIL x-box. I gotta know how to burn the emus and the roms on CD, how to play 'em on the x-box, all that good stuff. Can somebody help me?

I'm not quite sure if that's possible to do.

I can't help you all that much myself as I have no Xbox, but I know it can be done.
unless by retail you mean no mods whatsoever, then you might be out of luck because I don't think there is any way to run unsigned code without any modification...could be wrong though

what else could i possibly mean by "retail x-box"? oh yeah, i heard that most x-boxes won't play burnt audio CDs, but mine does. does that mean that it can play other burnt CDs as well?

If it's a Samsung drive, yes, otherwise you'll need it on a CDRW.

how can i tell if it's a samsung drive or not?
and do i HAVE to have a CD-RW or will a regular CD-R work? by the way, my burnt CDs were all on CD-R's, not CD-RW's. just thought i'd put that out there.

I didn't understand, you say you want emulators but you didn't specify what system you want to emulate. In any case I recommend http://www.cps2shock.com. The WinKawaks emulator you can get there is THE BEST arcade emulator IMO, as it is extremely reliable and easy to use. WinKawaks plays all my favorite CPS1, CPS2, and SNK arcade ROMs.

check the mfg date on the bottom of your x-box. if it's a launch x-box, it doesn't come with a samsung, and so you need cdrw. I don't recall when they started using samsungs though, so that's about all the help I can offer.
