The messiah or magic chip 2,as the magic chip 2 is basicly a messiah with its coding modified a bit to work with the v7.

magic2 chip has 23 wires and only one of those wires is to play psx backups can u beleive that?but its true,
a mod chip as 8 wires to the motherboard that is the cheapest way to do it at the mo.but then u will have to buy a ar2 cd £29.99
if u use this option.
magic2 is a masire chip and will cost u £80 fitted by a pro and i reccomend u dont do this ya self.
well worth the money i would say the only disadvantage with a magic2 you cannot play psx imports. will play pal psx,dvd,dvd-r,cdr
depending on your psx2 model of couse
anyway got to go hope this helps :o
