Hi all,
I am new to this forum. Anyway , i post because i am having problem with Call Of Duty. When I installed and try to start COD, it gave me the "configure.csv not found" error . I used the crack downloaded from gameburnworld.com. If i tried to run the multiplayer , it will give me "configure_mp.csv not found " ..... :rangeno: anyone know how to fix this? By the way, i have no problem running the Burnville and Dawnville demo.
Thank!

this is how i fixed mine: check the .pk3 [call of duty\main] files if they are same size as ones in CDs [\setup\data\main]
my pak0.pk3 file was different size so i copied one from cd and fixed problem with configure.csv missing.

Hey, I manage to start the game.Basically, the pak0.pk3 is corrupted, for some reason obviously . Therefore during the installation, the file was actually partially copied to the harddisk. So when COD try to load the pk3 file during startup , it failed. Since the configure.csv is inside pak0.pk3, so it give the message "configure.csv not found", because the game need to read this file first.
Well, What I did was i unzip the pak0.pk3 using winzip into a temp folder. Although the file is corrupted, i was still able to unzip most of files out , except for one file that i couldn't unzip ( i don't have the file name with me ). After unzipping the file, i again recreate a new pak0.pk3 using Winzip. Then I overwrite the pak0.pk3 in the Main directory. Now i was able to play the game ! :) i already play thru the 6 or 7 missions with no problem. :)
Hope this help.
EDIT : I wasn't able to copy the file from the CD, obviously the file in the CD was corrupted as well.
Regards.

Firstly, are u able to unzip the corrupted PAK0.pk3?? i used Winzip to unzip the files. Then create a *new* PAK0.pk3 file. Make sure the configure.csv or configure_mp.csv( for multiplayer ) files are inside the new zip file , because the system need them during startup i guess. For my part, as i said on my previous post, onli one file was corrupted in the original pk3 file, it is a texture file , *i think*. All other files are able to extract out by Winzip. How about you? Are you having a similiar thing?
By the way , anyone else manage to solve their problem? please post. Thank you.

PS: i already at level 8 or 9. :)

Could it be CD/DVD drive related problem? I had a ASUS DVD-ROM and LiteOn CDRW drive. Both drive also cannot copy the file from the CD. Maybe you can find out from your friend and check if both of you are using different drive.
To SONIKE :
Glad that you are able to play the game. It is a great game! :)

By default Windows doesn't show the extension for the file, for example pak0.pk3 will be shown as pak0. just view the properties of the file. ( right click and select properties )
BY the way i think the exact file size of PAK0.PK3 is around 163MB. moondogy , have you used my methods to extract the files out and then rezip them ?

Hi Moondogy,
well regarding the corrupted file, i used another existing non-corrupted file , copy and rename it to match the corrupted file , and put it in the new zip file :) no problem whatsoever .~ didn't see any texture corruption in game...
U said it still doesn't work, so what kind of error message did u get when u try to start the game? please provide information.
PS: i already finish the Single Player missions two days back...

Hi... Can u tell me where you got the non-corrputed file from?
The corrupted file in the pak0.pk3 is under the folder textures>normandy>ground and the file name is dirt_clampx@road_groundborder.dds
Can someone please send this file to me by E-mail
My Email address is bharatg@golchha.com

Ok I just went through the registration process to help YOU!
SOLUTION: I also got the same error message "configure.csv not found" and tried everything. Solution is simple! Just copy/paste the 160mb pak0.pk3 from CD to the right COD folder on your HD over the existing one. Amazing but as simple as that.
Enjoy

I contacted Actavisoin support with the problem of configure.csv not found, and they told me it was my video driver that was the problem. Activision said thay have not designed the games for laptops and with my new Acer Ferrari 3200 w Radeon Mobile 9700 128MB it just shouldn't work. I studied all your comments on this site and worked with the pak0.pk3 file and now it is working (one drawback though, see below). This is how I did it:
1. Unzip / extract as many of the files and folder from the file pak0.pk3 on the CD as you can, to a new temporary folder on your computer. I used winrar. I found 8 files that did not make it as they were reported to be corrupted (I have an Asia Pacific version of the game, dont ask me why, bought it legally in Sweden). Winrar reports which files that are corrupted, so you extract the rest of the files. You need to go into those directories on your CD to pinpoint exactly which files to extract and which to leave. Make sure the folder and subfolder structure on your temporary folder on your PC is the same as the one on the CD.
2. When I had the same file structure and all but the 8 files extracted on my computer, I used winrar again and created a zip file which I renamed pak0.pk3. I then replaced the original pak0.pk3 on my computer with the one I created.
3. Voilà, it works nicely.
DRAWBACK: I cannot upgrade to version 1.4, and hence cannot install the expansion pack (as it requires 1.4). I get message that the pak0.pk3 file is not a valid previous version. I have contacted the Activision support and watining for their reply. See if they refer to my vidso driver again.....
Hope this is of some help

The fault was the CD. After I exchanged it for another copy, it now works beautifully!

Hopefully I am not putting this in the wrong place!!
Need help replacing this file as the store would not accept exchange because we waited too long and Activison kept telling me to take it back to the store where I purchased it.
Can anyone direct me to where this file can be found?

Hi guys, I met with the same problem when I brought this game. It is mainly because of faulty copying of game files while loading. So, our work is to copy the missing files manually to the current game folder from the CD.
For this you need to download two softwares called 7-Zip File Manager and Free Hi-Q recorder (Both are free on the internet).
Open the location E:\Program Files\Call of Duty\Main from your current game folder and you will find some pak.pk3 files. Check the size of these (pak0, pak1, etc). Open those files which are having less size as compared to the original size on the CD because the problems lies here only. In my case the problem was with pak0.pk3 and pak2.pk3 zip files. I am sure same will be the case with you also.
Steps to be followed:
1. Extract the files from pak0.pk3 zip file with WINZIP or RAR from your current game location into a new folder(A) on your desktop. (File location E:\Program Files\Call of Duty\Main). Now open pak0.pk3 file from your CD1 with the help of 7-zip software.
2. Now compare the number of files in each folder. For example: open the vehicles folder from your Folder A and 7-zip and compare the number of files. Copy those files which are not present in folder A from 7-zip. I think the problem is with the texture folder but anyway, you check for all the files. Similarly, go for all other folders. While copying, you will get redundancy check errors. When copying from CD2, few sounds files which have got redundancy checks on them will not be copied. For these files follow step 3.
3. You can neither copy nor play redundancy check sound files. So, start playing a particular sound file which has got a similar name which does not have a redundancy check and start recording the sound with Free Hi-Q recorder until you reach the same size(Kb) as originally in the CD. Picking the similar name files helps in giving the same nature of sound while playing the game as it would have given with the original sound. Put exactly the same name to this file as it is in the original CD (DO NOT FORGET THIS). To check the size, open the default folder of Hi-Q and match it with the original file size while recording. Stop the recording when you reach the same size. (To be frank, size does not matter. You can also pick entirely a different sound file, but the aim is to place a missing sound file back into the current game folder with the same name.)
4. Check the format of the sound file: MP3 or WAV. If you are replacing a wav file, do not forget to convert it to WAV format.
5. Copy all these files back to the Folder A. When finished copying the files, make a zip file of these with WINZIP or RAR. Rename the file exactly as it was originally. Ex: Type full name “pak0.pk3”, do not leave ".pk3".
Put this file back into the current game location E:\Program Files\Call of Duty\Main.
6. Do the same thing with pak3.pk3.
7. Refresh the folder and enjoy playing the game.
If you have any difficulties, do contact me.

You could try registering your CD Key with Steam, thats how I got Prey working when it wouldn't work when I installed it the normal way.
