Hi...Question.Is there a prog out there in software land that can apply an anti copy to a backup of a dvd movie.Something thats added during burning to stop someone else making cpoies of a copy....Does that make sense..

Why i ask is.....I know of a bloke who, lets say is "Mr Car Boot" and he is into all things cpoied in a big way..I dont ask where he gets his stuff from, not that bothered but every now and again he will lend me a copy of a decent movie i.e Finding Nemo.I watch this film and if the quality is up to it a do one for myself,he knows i do this but never seems to mind and never asks me about it.
Then i borrow Finding Nemo, the kids like it,the quality is OK.So i decide to do a backup for me.Blow me down if i cant do a thing with it,nowt i tried would touch it.Read error after read error.i give up calling it a bad day..
Then it gets interesting, this bloke is asking me all sorts of questions on if i managed to copy it.I say yes (telling BIG porkies) he seems upset and gets a monk on.I put 2 and 2 together, maybe he dont want me copying his stuff and added summet to stop me,on the sly..
Is this possible....I would like to point out i do NOT make financial gain from backing stuff up,just saves me brass..OK...

So you would like to copy protect DVD backups you make?
I've never done that, but it could get tough. I think you may have to use some of the software professionals use such as DVD Maestro & Scenarist (http://www.sonic.com/products/scenarist/default.asp). I'll see what I can find out.

it is possible to protect your own backups if you dont want anyone else copying them, which personally i think is so hypecritical in the first place, considering this bloke is getting his ++++ for free and then flogging it on and making a profit.

but i suppose, as in everything that theres a way of breaking the protection, HOW ? i dont have a clue but if you ask in the right places you'll get the right answers.

if it were me i wudda tried ripping it to hdd first with smartripper or dvd decrypter and see what came of that.

Hi thanks for the reply X-CALIBUR ..I always rip my dvd backups to the HD first, using DVD Decryptor....In this case it would not read the disc and after 30 mins it just said read error....I tried every other means of backing up a dvd i could try with what progs i have on my machine but all of them bummed out.

I have called it a day on this movie. My good lady wife said it was very good so when it comes out on general release i will go buy it..

Having waisted many an day or more downloading divx, avi movies off KAzza only to find the quality is that poor its unwatchable i have recently decided to stop messing about with backed up movies..

thanks for the input....
