Xbox requirements:

MOD Chip to boot backups
xbox ftp server such as evolution x dashboard to connect to your xbox
a hub, switch or crossover cable to connect to your xbox aswell.

Computer requirements:

an FTP client such as Flash FXP wich i recommend a lot to connect to your xbox
Record Now Max or Primo Dvd to burn your games
Xiso to extract iso images
Winrar to extract files http://www.rarlab.com/ (http://www.rarlab.com/)

You can get evolution x dashboard www.cowman1960.co.uk (http://www.cowman1960.co.uk) or even better you can get Team Xavier Multi Dash wich installs 4 different dashboards to your xbox like mxm evolution x etc. it also install the latest applications like xbox media player 2.4 boxplorer etc and emulators (not roms) get it here (http://www.globalhackz.com/Team_XaVieR_Evox_iso.rar) now you need to find a way to connect to your xbox check out this site Connection site (http://evox.xboxhackz.net/evox/guides/body_basic_networking.html)

Now you'll need Record now max get it here (http://www.stompinc.com/trial/index.phtml?stp)

Now burn your dashboard to a Dvdr (note: Xbox doesn't read Cdrs, and some DvdRw disc unless you have a Samsung Dvd rom so try burning the dashboard to a cdrw or dvdr
If you downloaded evox dashboard and it's compressed use winrar to extract the files to a temporary directory.
If you decided to download Team Xavier's dashboards wich is really cool you'll need to use Xiso to extract the files (lets say you have an iso image of a game! dont ever burn the image you might waste your dvdr some times the image doesnt work so extract the image using Xiso and burn it with Record Now MaX) get Xiso from techhelping.com here (http://www.techhelping.com/files/xISOv073.zip)

How to extract files from an iso image using Xiso:

open Xiso and click on open then locate the iso image, click on extrac all and select a directory to save the files, check out the pictures:
Image (http://members.lycos.co.uk/scyraxxx/pic1x.JPG)
Image (http://members.lycos.co.uk/scyraxxx/pic2x.JPG)

Now your ready to burn your new xbox dashboard or ftp server. Open record now max and click on Return to Record now Max
click on data and then click add files and folders.
Note: Make sure you add the fallowing files: default.xbe, evox.ini, skins directory.
Image (http://members.lycos.co.uk/scyraxxx/pic3x.JPG)

delete the volume label numbers
Image (http://members.lycos.co.uk/scyraxxx/pic4x.JPG)

Click on options select mode 1 Dao (disc at once closed) and UDF up to 128 in file name lenght:
Image (http://members.lycos.co.uk/scyraxxx/pic5x.JPG)
click ok and burn the disc by clicking on the red button.

Now it's time to connect to your xbox:

On your computer you'll need to change your local ip
go to control panel and click on network and internet connections
Image (http://members.lycos.co.uk/scyraxxx/pic6x.JPG)

click on network connections
Image (http://members.lycos.co.uk/scyraxxx/pic7x.JPG)

now on your network card make a right click select properties and double click on internet protocol (tcp/ip)
Image (http://members.lycos.co.uk/scyraxxx/pic8x.JPG)

click on use the following ip address and type in this:
Ip:192.168.1.100
Subnetmask:255.255.255.0
Default gateway:192.168.100.1
click ok
and ok on ur nic card properties to save the changes.
Image (http://members.lycos.co.uk/scyraxxx/pic9x.JPG)

Now lets change your xbox ip:

Turn on your xbox and load the evolution x dashboard or any ftp server disc wich you just created to your xbox, I will use evolution x as an example, go to system management.
Image (http://members.lycos.co.uk/scyraxxx/pic10x.JPG)

go to system settings.
Image (http://members.lycos.co.uk/scyraxxx/pic11x.JPG)

now it's time to change your xbox's ip address, this is the hard part because i'm no good with networking but this settings work for me:
Setup network : Yes
Ip: Yes
Ip: 192.168.1.102
Subnetmask: 255.255.255.0
Default gateway: 192.168.1.1
User name: Xbox
Password:: Xbox (it's very importan that you use Xbox ass user name and password)
Image (http://members.lycos.co.uk/scyraxxx/pic12x.JPG)

now go hit A where it says save and exit
Image (http://members.lycos.co.uk/scyraxxx/pic13x.JPG)

Now it's time to connect to your Xbox:

Open flash fxp click where it says Sites and click where it says sites manager or hit F4 instead click on create new site
Image (http://members.lycos.co.uk/scyraxxx/pic14x.JPG)

name it xbox or whatever you want
Ip address: 192.168.1.102
user name xbox
password xbox
click on apply and now it's to moment of true click on connect, if it does great!! if it doesn't Oops :( ok something's wrong, make sure your xbox's communcating with your computer check if your xbox's nic card light is on if not your xbox's not comunicating, if it is try changing the last number on ur xbox or pc ip.

Ok open the C directoy on flash fxp (xbox)
and locate the following file: xboxdash.xbe now rename that to msxboxdash.xbe
using flash fxp locate the directory where you extracted the evolution x files, rename default.xbe to xboxdash.xbe and transfer the file to your xbox by dragging it to the xbox side.
Image (http://members.lycos.co.uk/scyraxxx/pic15x.JPG)
Image (http://members.lycos.co.uk/scyraxxx/pic16x.JPG)

now remove the xboxdash cd/dvd and you'll notice that xboxdash will boot instead of the microsoft dashboard. Note that you can always go back to microsft dashboard by going to system management and hit a on ms dashboard.

Transfer you game files to your computer:

Ok now open your xbox's dvd tray and load any game you want and reconnect to your xbox using flash fxp now open the D drive and you will now see your game files, create a new directory and name it temp or whatever u want by making a right click on your computer side and click where it says make directory, open it now highlight the games's files and dtrag them to the temp directory.
Image (http://members.lycos.co.uk/scyraxxx/pic17x.JPG)

Burn your game:
Do exactly what you did to burn evox dash disc but instead load your game files.
All done, enjoy your backup.

I do it this way:

You need:
modded xbox (duh) with evolution x
ISOMaker2.0
ADR patcher

OK:
Boot into evox
Put the original game into the xbox drive. Don't run it.
FTP into the xbox. Access the xbox dvd drive.
FTP the game files to your PC. All of them.
Your done on the xbox end. This is needed because a PC dvd drive CANNOT read an xbox game properly. Games NEED to be pulled from the xbox.

In Windows:
Run ISOMaker. Navigate to the folder you put the game files in, and select the default.xbe (this is the standard launch .exe for any xbox app/game).
In the destination of ISOMaker, navigate to where you want the iso put, and make a new abreviated name for it.
Wait. A dos prompt will open and everything will run itself with no intervention from you.

When it's all done, load the ADR patcher & latest patch files, and point it to the new iso you just made. It will patch the game, if necessary.

Use your dvd burning software of choice to burn the image. I prefer Nero 6. I burn ar 2.4x, even though my liteon dvd+rw/+r drive can do 4x.
So far every game I backed up runs fine. I use a software audio hack on my xbox, and all is good here.

This is my way
this tutorial will show you right from scratch how to do it

What you need
a modded xbox running a replacment dashboard (if you dont have one get one at www.cowman1960.co.uk or use an auto installer available at globalhackz forums)
some way of ftping to your xbox. how to get these files and how to use them will be explained in the tutorial

ok first off you need to boot either your evox bootdisk . make one by downloading evox from www.cowman1960.co.uk and then extracting all the files and make an iso with craxtion www.craxtion.com . then burn the iso with nero (goto file -> record image and select the iso you made) burn the image on to a dvd-r or cd-rw. now put the disk in your xbox and you should see evox!
if you are really feelin half assed then you can download team xaviers multidash installer (Team Xaviers multidash installer (http://www.globalhackz.com/Team_XaVier_MultiDash_Installer_v1.0.iso.rar) ) or team xaviers evox installer (Team xaviers evo-x auto installer (http://www.globalhackz.com/Team_XaVieR_Evox_iso.rar) and build your hd. change the ip in system settings to 192.168.100.3 subnet mask 255.255.255.0.0 (or something like that should already be like it) and gateway 192.168.100.1 this option was if you installed evox as the main dash.

now on your pc (if you are running windows xp) go into network connections and then your network card which your gonna connect to your xbox through and right click it and select properties. goto tcp/ip terminal and then select configure at the bottom (or something like that)
change your ip to 192.168.100.2 and then your subnet mask should automatically appear (shazam) then select your gateway and make it 192.168.200.1 . download flash fxp from www.cowman1960.co.uk (a cracked vers) and conect to your xbox.

now that installing evox is done you can put pxhddloader or any other game copiers on your hard drive. go into E:\apps or F:\apps and make a folder called gamecopier or whatever you want to call it. then link to it in evox. if you have the evox 3921 it should be in apps after you ftped it to your xbox and put it in there.

now copy a game to your hard drive using one of those tools. ftp to your xbox and transfer that game over to your computer using flash fxp. open craxtion and make a iso with all the files of that game you copied to the hard drive. and go into nero file -> record image and select the iso you made with craxtion. burn the iso at 1 timez write and record at once.

you may have trouble setting up craxtion download the runtimes and other files and do all the things it says.

you may have also noticed i didnt use xiso . heres a whole thread saying why you shouldnt use it http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?act=ST&f=11&t=34283& .

hope this helps!

There is no demo avail for Primo DVD, so instead of that you could get RecordNow max, which is very similar to Primo.

(IIRC, 4.5 will not let you close the session after burning, but try it out)

Reboot Windows. Whenever flasfxp doesn't want to conect to xbox, a reboot of Windows and restarting flash works wonders.

1. Make sure there is no dvd/cd in the xbox drive when connecting with FlashFXP.

2. Verify the settings for your network card

OK. Is there any way that I can transfer my saved game files FROM the xbox TO my pc without any mod? I have flashfxp, and a crossover cable

If you use the gamesave hack, sure. If you REALLY mean no mod (including no software hacks), just go buy or build your own action replay

senseigmg
12-30-2003, 12:37 PM
I'm talking absolutely no mod. Like I plug xbox and pc together and thats it. Possible? I have to send my xbox in becaue it sometimes decides not to boot, so I want to save my game files on my comp so that if it gets replaced, I will have them all.

anjilslaire

Get an action replay, then.

ive downloaded some xbox game images from overnet, and then i burn them so far my xbox has just read 1 game (knights of the old republic) ive downloaded more images but none have worked, and ive wasted more than 20 dvdrs (ive followed your burning tutorial), i was wondering if theres a software that can tell me if the downloaded image is ok or not.

i tried to mount the images in Alcohol 120% and it told me it was unreadeable, if this is correct is there a way to fix it?

thanx

Oh my you downloaded the games. the only help we can and will give you is READ THE RULES (http://www.mgforums.com/forums/rules.php)

And support the developers by buying your games.

I've never been into XBox or PS2 backups, so I have a simple (at least I think it's simple) question...

Assuming that a person has a modded XBox or PS2:

Could a person take his ORIGINAL XBox or PS2 game, pop it into a PC, and use say, CloneDVD & make a copy onto a DVD-R disc, and have that disc playable on the modded console?

Or is it a bit more complicated than that?

Thanks for taking the time to answer a n00bish question. :p

You could do it reverse.. Put the original game in the xbox. Use flash Fxp to ftp into your xbox go to the D drive. Copy the entire drive contents to your local hard drive on your pc. Then take the folder you created and make an image. Burn that image to a dvd disk using your favorite burn program whether it be Nero6, or Recordnow Max or even Alchol 120%. For those who are having problems making coasters Force Aspi is an excellent program to fix this. Anyways take the image you created provided it will fit on a DVD5 disk and run directly from your xbox. Some of the dvd drives in the xbox are very picky on media and need to experiment. Me, I have had much success with TDK and Memorex's DVD+R's and any DVD+RW's. CD's for the really small games only CDRW's work on my xbox but then again that is with 1st gen Xecutor mod chip installed. Maybe the other newer ones have better support? Hope this helps

That sounds interesting, but assuming I wanted to just do it the way I mentioned, could it be done that way as well? Are there any drawbacks? Any other stuff I should be prepared for/aware of? Thanks!

You can if you use the right software.. if you have the right dashboard etc it will probably have utilities for doing such a thing..

Use dvd2box. It'll rip to the hd.

@Enforcer:
did you ever get your xbox modded? Try backing up any games? Qwix can solve alot of the chores involved.
