My Pen Drive (USB portable storage device) was working fine, no problems whatsoever. Then I had some problem with my harddrives which you may have read in other threads. For those of you who haven't here is a quick summary. My system stopped recognizing any of the IDE components. I have two harddrives but I had been running with it only seeing one of them anyways. I fixed it and now am running off both harddrives. It was after I got these 'fixed' when the problem started. When I insert the device Windows seems to recognize it because the 'safely remove hardware' icon was in the system tray. I checked the device manager and it saw it there and it said that it was working. When I open Windows Explorer, however, it seems not to recognize it at all. This is a major problem considering that my homework is in this.

Is it only the pen that is not working in the USB ?

Maybe try and reinstall USB device.

I have a USB mouse and that works fine. I tryed switching ports to see if it's a bad port, but that wasn't the problem either. I doubt that the mouse is sucking up too much of the power for the drive to work because it was working before. As for reinstalling XP detects it fine, the drivers only need to be installed for 95 and 98.
