My computer is a fortress: I have a Firewall, Antivirus software, Spyware removing tools... but I can't stop pop ups!
And they drive me mad! Can someone give me a link to a good (free) pop up killer/stopper that works?
I tried that stuff from PanicWare, but it installed Spyware on my PC as well (got a browser hijacker)

Yeh, cleaning the cookies is on top of my list of "stuff to do on this machine" :D
I'll give that a shot. Thanks m8

A good pop-up stopper? Yeah, use Mozilla. It don't allow any POP-ups with out you specifically letting it. What's even better, is no one writes hijacking toolbars/scripts for mozilla.

Sorry, not overly with it this morning. Feeling kinda tired :)

yea mozilla norton personal firewall and the google tool bar work best for me (i bet you are thinking huh the google toolbar) it works honest.
try kazza lite for the first 2 and then www.google.com for the google toolbar
Google toolbar for Mozilla? Just type in "google" and then the search. Example: Say I was searching for hemorrhoid lotion, I would type:
google hemorrhoid lotion
And up would pop http://www.google.com/search?&q=hemorrhoid%20lotion

I got Zone Alarm Pro from download.com
There is an option to block pop-ups, pop-unders, and banner ads. seems to be working quite well.
If you need more info spy, send me a pm

If your talking about the annoying new kind of pop-up that come in a windows error screen that usually have a website or some link on there to stop the very pop-up that the message caused, they usually pop up over your game while your in playing even though your not on any website and you have all the nicest lil popup blockers/firewalls.....
There is a simple solution.
Goto you Control Panel then open up /Administrative Tools/Services then scroll down the list and locate Messenger double click it and change the "startup type" to Disabled then under service status click the Stop button then hit apply.
Don't get confused by the name "Messenger" on it because it has nothing to do with MSN messenger or AIM It is actually a backdoor messenger our friends over at Microsoft left for someone to find and exploit.
Yet another internet annoyance gone.

Boh, that browser Hijacker was quickly removed with Spybot Search & Destroy or Ad-aware :)
Maeya Pop Up Ad Filter was a good one, but it ain't free, and it's really expensive
