I'm getting a Messiah 2 modchip installed next week so I'll finally be able to play backup games. Unfortunately, as of now, I can't make backups myself since I don't have the proper hardware/software. What I wanted to know is what regular 'backup'ers would recommend for a starter like me. Among the few searches I've done I've been able to collect this info:

Recommended Software: Stomp RecordNow MAX
Recommended Hardware (DVD Burner): Pioneer A05/105

Please share any other suggestions which could help me decide what to get/buy so I can back up DVDs or CDs properly. Thanks!

Yes Recordnow Max is a good program for backing up games, but for dvd burning I would recommend getting a multi format burner, I just purchased a LG multi format 4x burner from FutureShop in Canada for 199.00 cdn, that's a damn good price for a multi, and it works great, never burnt a coaster with it yet.

Hope this helps

How is a multi format DVD Burner better? I mean, what exactly is 'multi format'? Sorry, I'm new to dvd burning and all:)

Also, I have a 500Mhz Athlon PC, 20Gigs, 128M of ram, DVD-ROM, CD-RW. Would that be enough for the DVD burning process?

A mutliformat dvd burner can burn both + and - R.
I would recommend the Pioneer A05/105 as the price has gone down and its a really good burner.

For burning PS2 dvdrom games i would recommend Record Now Max, and for PS2 cdrom games i would recommend CDRWin.

I not sure if a 500mhz cpu is gonna be fast enough, well to burn at X4 anyways as on the back of the A05's box is recommends a 800mhz.

Using a Pioneer 104 with the updated firmware enabling x2 burning...this is a dvd-r burner. It does not like dvd+r discs. As for the prog...i would agree record Now Max is the one to use.DEFINATLY !!!
