Just a little help needed

OK, i have asked this once before but what i was told did'nt work.

Heres the problem, when i go run and type msconfig i get a error message saying windows cannot find 'msconfig' also if i go start > help and support i get a message saying windows cannot find 'helpctr.exe'.
Now ive tryed the expand command to extract from the xp pro cd but that did not fix the problem.Both files are on the pc, if i go run then browse manually to the file then it works, windows just cant find it by its self.

Any ideas folks, .. oh i dont wanna format as every thing else seems to be in order.

Ive also looked in the support part at microsoft sites but that seemed a waste of time.

try typing msconfig.sys in the run box. if that dont work then i tried to help

I assume u are running windows 2000 as this has no version of msconfig.
A version is available for download at http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml

If u r not running windows 2000 and u don't wanna reinstall it may also be ur only solution. I personally use the stand alone version.

Na im not running Windows 2K, im running XP Pro....

Any one else got any ideas.

There are alternative progs for msconfig, search on google.

XP pro doesnt come with msconfig but you may donwload it from the net

XP Pro does have msconfig as its on my hdd,its in C:\WINDOWS\PCHEALTH\HELPCTR\Binaries , its just windows does'nt want to find it by its self any more when i type msconfig in run.
It also does'nt want to fin helpctr.exe when i got run > help and support, even though the file is on my hdd.

Win 98 and Me has msconfig.

It is just Win 2000 that doesn't have it !!
