right if you have a recentish version of evo x there should be a settings option look in there for details of your ip etc your gateway i believe should match your network cards. ok if your still having probs check to make sure a firewall aint blocking your access ;)

What exactly happens? Does the connection just fail?

Using Evox, make sure the IP is set correctly in the config, then from your FTP client, make a new connection to the box using (change if different for you) IP: 192.168.100.3

BTW you do NOT have to be connected to the Internet to FTP to your box, just make sure your system is hooked up the box, via router, crossover cable, etc.

Go to your network properties, and change your IP to static, and specify the following IP for your PC: 192.168.100.2

Subnet: 255.255.255.0

Gateway: 192.168.100.2

Thats it, now make sure you don't have a CD/DVD in the drive, power the box, and you should be able to FTP to it.

For the user/pass use:

user: xbox

pass: xbox
