Right. Some background needed.

I have a :

Via Chipset based Jetway 663AS Pro Mobo.
Duron 800
256Mb RAM
40Gb Maxtor HDD
Hercules Prophet II MX
Aureal Sonic Vortex II

Running XP Pro.

I've recently relocated back to the UK. (HI THOSE WHO REMEMBER!)

Since arriving, my comp was fine for the first week or so (so the transport may be unrelated) then all of a sudden (no hardware changes, no software really)

No at random, I get complete system seizures, bad enough that I have to hard reset (power off, turn back on)

The only time I've ever got an error message it was...

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Stop : 0x0000000A

Been through the MS Knowledge Base, it reccomends either faulty mobo or memory (probable)

I've tested the memory, seems fine, made 3 scan passes - all good.

Dunno how to test the mobo.

Any other suggestions for possible cause and or resolution?

Ta.

Try reseating the memory, it may have got dislodged during transport, just take them out and then put them back in carefully but firmly

Done that.

Completely removed all components apart from PSU & Mobo once it started happenin'.

Did find PILES of dust & crap in there tho' :grin2:

Thanks Brick.

I'll read through it.

In the meantime, any other suggestions?

No luck.

By my own tests, I reckon it's either the mobo or the memory.

Problem is, I don't wanna buy a new mobo then find out it's still screwed or vice versa. dÓH!

Ok, now I'm pretty much definite either memory or mobo.

I've run some tests, watched when it crashes. It's only when I'm running something fairly intensive.

Example : IE never crashes, unless I open like a bazillion windows.

Installers (such as Installshield) crash every time.

Problem is, how can I be sure?
