Sup guys?!?

I am in need of help.
I have an extremely frustrating problem.
About every 20-30 minutes my comp gives me a message that...
"Shutdown had been activated by NT Authority/ System" because some routine was stopped unexpectedly. Then it gives me 60 sec. to save anything before the system restarts.

This started a few days ago but it wasn't happening as often.
Now it's about every 20-30 minutes like I said.

Could it be a virus or something?

P.S. something I also noticed when this started happening... when the comp boots up, a message reading "Windows cannot open file 'TFTP5235' because it does not know what program created it." Then it gives me an option to select a progam to open the file but I can't seem to get any kind of data from the file.

Frustrating....

Thanks for any help or ideas.

Which OS are you using?

Win 2000 Pro? Win XP?

I run WIN XP Home Ed.

@NViking it's that same warning "The system is shutting down. Please save all work in progress and log off. Any unsaved changes will be lost. This shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM."

But the system process that terminates is different... I'll try to catch what process it is next time it happens.

Thanks guys

this might be a virus try going to microsoft and download patches . or this might be a blaster worm there a lot of patches outthere. i mostly encounter this when im online b4, i updatd my antivirus i use ntsecurity now its doesnt bug me. or when you really really need to hangon to your work or currently downloading patches when the shutdown warning appears . quickly type this on your run commnad "shutdown -a" or shutdown -t x "x meaning the time you want untill it shutsdown. but i would suggest the shutdown -a for you.

That problem ins very known on windows xp vuloenearbilty that can be caused for a possible infection of virus you need to download the service pack 2 and all the security updates that worked for me when I had that problem but just in case that still persists go run and type command this will take to th dos console and type "shutdown -a" and this will cancel the automated shutdown the only probelm with thus is that when you finish to use your computer is that when turn off your computer the computer will not shutdown bacause the option is cancelled until the next reboot

EDIT I didnt realize the post over me sorry
