Annoying Screen Problem

Well, here it is. A Computer of ours which is quite old, (runs on a P3 450mhz Celeron) is stuck in 16 color (not 16-bit color) at 600x480 screen resolution. The thing i dont understand is is that I have installed the latest drivers for it (although the latest driver revision was some time ago). It complains that the video hardware or software cant support the display i want ( 800x600 at 16-bit color). But it has been running at 800x600 with 16-bit color for near 2 years. It seems to have happened when our internet service provider ( named Telstra, people outside of Aussie wont know who that is) updated their cable usage toolbar.

Im sending out a mighty big ask for help and pronto cos this computer is a workhorse and at the moment its prety uselss except for laying in concrete. :bhead: :bhead:

try changing the monitor to plug and play. if you have unknown monitor i know it won't do the 16 bit thingy
