I just got rise of nations and when I play it all the screen stops and the characters dont walk smooth. For example, when I click and make the box to select my army, the box run smoothly, but instead is small, then suddenly big. The soldiers aren't walking smoothly, they seem like there transporting every once in a while. For a more clear explanation, take example of the lines:

If this is what the game is supposed to be, all smooth gameplay:

------------------------------------------------------------

But for me: (the "#" represent pauses"

---#-----#---#---#--#-#-------#-----#----

I hope you understand what I mean...Can anyone give me a solution for this? I have a 1.8Ghz computer, so I don't get what the problem is.

Seems like the game is lagging & getting choppy.

To me it sounds like it may be your video card. What type do you have? Try updating the drivers for your video card.

What are your system specifications? It is probably that your vid card is not powerful enough as Vile said, but it could be as well a lack of RAM or a slow CPU.

The guys are right, It sounds as If you need a better video card.

You could try lessening the detail within the game... I have never played itm so I am not sure if you can, but if you are able to.. Start with that;)

i think it's his video card too. I have no problem with this game whatsoever and I didn't download any patches so it should work unless your video card can not handle it.

My video card is a 32 bit and the box specifies that you need atleast a 16 bit...

Rise of Nations is actually a picky game when it comes to the video card.

When you launch the game, go to the setup, and decrease the resolution and game settings; that should help it run faster.

And Minimum Requirements on Boxes are only what it needs to run... These days you need to AT LEAST double the minimum to have a decent Frame Rate...

Damn Computers:p

Fitting the minimum system requirements is as Icebane says, defenitely not enough to play the game decently.
