How to patch (noCD) C&C:generals?

Hi all!
I'm running C&C:generals with the no CD crack. How can I install the official update?

Replace the cracked files with the originals (from memory i think they are generals.exe and game.dat) and then run the update. Then get a new crack for the version you just updated to and put that on.
