Unsolveable Fifa 2003 loading problem within

Im not kidding when i say unsolveable its going to take a genius of genius proportions to solve this one.

It may sound a little vague but ive tried everywhere else and other people have had this problem on other forums and still cant solve it either :(

Basicly my friend bought fifa 2003 (he buys them every year) back in october when it was released and for eight months has had no problems at all.

All of a sudden without warning it now tries to boot but he only gets a black screen and doesnt even go into the "EA sports its in the game" logo screen. Both of us have tried everything to solve this problem ie, updating directx and video drivers.

He never made any changes to his system by way of upgrades or patches before this problem started and it just came from no where.

He now has the latest directx, his specs are 256mb ram, 1800 athlon, geforce 4.

Now he very rarely gets it to work. Hes been through the whole of the readme file and been to ea.com and been through all the would be solutions there to but nothing seems to work. The only way to (by chance) get the game to work at all is sometimes it will play if the pc has been on for a period of time but this doesnt always work.

Also it sometimes works if he plays another game first for a few mins then boots up fifa 2003.

BTW fifa 2002 works perfectly ok but for some reason this black screen problem happens 99% of the time stopping him from playing it. We also downloaded the crack but this didnt solve the problem either. I think it is either a refresh problem graphicly or somehow the game conflicts with some hard ware although nothing on his pc was changed to cause this because for 8 months it was ok.

If anyone manged to solve this problem or has any other ideas of what it could be please post a reply although i think it is one of those anomilys that cant be solved.

That sounds very strange.

So it only gets black screen when he plays Fifa 2003 ?

Have you reinstalled game ?

Update the graphic card drivers and update to latest patch.

Start -> Fifa2003 -> Check for updates

Yes hes tried reinstalling it even on other hard drives as well but still the same thing happens :(


There are no patches avalible for fifa 2003 (even says so on offical website) but his graphic drivers are all bang up to date. We have tried everything we can think of but still no luck :(

You tried the game on another comp ?

If that doesn't work, it must be a faulty game.

He bought a new copy of the game but still it didnt work. Only thing to try is installing it on my pc although our specs are different so im not sure if this will hope try to locate the problem. I think personally it doesnt like geforce cards

have u tried using a no cd crack on the game or try gettin a different no cd crack for it
might help u load the game

Aye he tried that and it worked once so we thought the problem was solved then he rebooted and tried it again and it ceased to work again :(

He also tried changing the refresh rate on the monitor as it said to do this if this problem occurs and it again worked once then failed there after.

He even opened up a dos shell and the same thing happened, its a really weird problem indeed.
