ok, check here for the old info.

http://www.mgforums.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=13840

now. since then the problem continued. even after updating the drivers for my radeon. i formatted and re-installed XP. Since then, still nothing but errors and restarts. even before i ran windows update and after getting everything updated. now, before this i hadnt updated any drivers for a month nor installed any new hardware or software and had no problems.

sorry to keep bugging you all but what does this sound like more?

still a prob. with my radeon card? mobo maybe? possible its the power supply? i was thinking something may have screwed up my HD but this is really weird.

at this point im ready to update my computer with a new motherboard, processor, return and exchange my hd and start again, which i would have no problem doing but it would be nice to be able to get things on the right track before doing all that. thanks in advance and sorry again for the trouble.

Still sounds like the problem I had which turned out to be a faulty stick of RAM.
BTW you only get the beeps on start up if the RAM is not working at all. If it is an intermittent problem, like this one is you don't get no beeps!

Then it's deffo a hardware issue.

A mate had this problem and it turned out that the mobo was faulty.

Could be power supply too, or too hot cpu.

Btw next time, stick to same thread instead of making new, thanks.

Go to "add/remove programs" and have a look to see if theres a hotfix entitled "Q811493" if its there uninstall it.

Did U ever test your ram for a fault?

Always reseat the ram (just pop it out and press it firmly back in) to check the contacts. If you want a top notch memory tester, grab a floppy and download this FREE util:

http://www.memtest86.com/

Once the Floppy disc or CDrom has been created, U won't be able to read them from windows. Don't worry about that, cuz windows is yellow stained y-fronts... sorry, opinion stated! Just reboot on the floppy/cd and it wil allow you to thoroughly test your memory.

ok, so here is a little update. my comp moved onto the restart at the windows loading screen so i decided to format my hd one more time with some older hardware i had that i knew worked (i.e. old gfx card) and well, it would format ok but then it would kinda just get past the network setup durring the XP instal and the blue screen of death popped up. did this twice. so can i assume this would be a HD problem? or could it still be a ram or mobo prob?

at this point my plans are to exchange my HD, upgrade my motherboard and processor and anything else i can afford, but as long as its not the motherboard i have a friend interested in it. thanks again for the help.

(btw, my computer is shot at the moment and i am on another. just so you dont think i have anything working at the moment. :))
