View Full Version : Unlocking Original XBox HDD

Hi, I've swapped the HDD in my Xbox to a 120 gig.

This is not the issue though, I now would like to use the original HDD in a PC - I found a tutorial on another website, and have used this before with success. But this time something different is happening.

When I switch the PC on it's asking straight away for an unlock key. Even before I'm able to boot the PC from a Floppy Bootdisk.

I've tried plugging the old XBox HDD as both Primary and Secondary, but it makes no difference at all.

Does anybody know what I need to do?

Thanks in advance

Sure np i can help, first forget about that boot disc that thing's old n we dont use it nemore, there's a tool that can unlock ur box ursing ur xbox it's called config magic final wich u can get it here http://www.biteable.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Files/Apps/ConfigMagic%20Final.zip burn it as if u were burning an xbox game, load it to ur box with ur xbox hdd hookedup press start on the main menu n u'll c an option called unlock hdd, when done turn off u xbox remove ur xbox hdd n put it on ur pc as primary slave ,u'll now need to format ur hdd so that it works on ur pc here's a guide for that :

Congratulations you have unlocked your xbox hdd for formatting.

Simple way to format it in WinXP:

Now boot to windows
enter "MMC" in RUN
File-->Add/Remove Snap-in
Click on ADD
New window appears double click on Disk Management
New window, click finish
Click on OK
Click on Disk Management(LOCAL)
then right click on disk 1 and select the first option
now right click on the right box next to the Disk 1 Box
Then click on format, and format it the way you want it, select your partition letter and your ready to go
Enjoy your 8/10 gb hdd ;)
