I had created a windows zip file with several files in and then added a password.

I wanted to add several more files - so I put them in the zip folder. To add the password to the new files I had to remove the old password. I right clicked in the folder, and pressed remove password.

The process of removing the password begun. About 1 minuite later it was finished - but all the files had dissapeared - they were gone. The zip folders size showed that there was nothing in the file.

Ive tried running several 'recovery' programs.. but to no avail.

Any ideas?

Cheers

That is weird.... I use that feature all the time and I have never had that happen to me. Very strange. If you want to really compress your files, you winAce or win rar. I think win ace supposed to compress files smaller than winrar, not possitive on that though.

I dont want to compress them at all - it was the password protection I was after..

I just want my files back :(

I have had problems with winzip in the past. The one thing I didn't like is the fast that I have back stuff of before and then later on the zip archive gets corrupt for no good reason. GHEY!

I wasn't even using winzip - I was using the compression software built into windows xp...

Out of all your recovery programs have you used a program called "Easy Recover" from what i told it IS the best.
http://fosi.big-ray.com/

Other than that, try looking in your "recent files" and "temp files" etc ;)

Best i can think of too hand, havent used WinZip for over a year.

Yea, I think Kaneda
Has the best ideas there. Looked at a few places and got about the same info, so I won't bother posting it. If it were me personally, I would e-mail winzip and tell them what happend if it can't be fixed, tell them how much there program sucks.

Why not search after some recovery program @ www.download.com or www.cnet.com ?
