ok, heres the problem, I have this annoying "search for everything from porn to mp3's" menu bar that pops up with Internet Explorer, and no matter how many times I scan with ad-aware, it fails to locate the bloody thing.

What else can I do to get rid fo this stupid taskbar?..cuz I'm about ready to re-install windows...

looks like this.

Try looking around Here (http://www.webtechgeek.com/center_Frame_Spyware.htm)

Hopefully you can find something.

One time I had one of these install automatically (after installing some other cheesy prog) but it was actually listed in the add/remove progs, so I was able to remove it that way.

What IE do you have ?

Might want to try and reinstall.

If you have Win Xp and IE 6, do this:

1) Insert the Win XP CD

2) Open Start / Run and type:
rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 c:\windows\inf\ie.inf

Press ENTER

Had one similar to that .. called " MY Search " .. it installed itself from nowhere .. but as with Vile .. It was listed in the " Add / Remove Prog's .. so was easy to remove ;)

I had this same thing not too long ago. About a week ago to be exact. I could tell you how to get rid of it manually but it would be much much easier to have spybot do it. Spybot has all the lop.com exe's in its search database, so it will remove it for you. You have to make sure you get the latest version though...v1.2.

You can get it at www.download.com

I had that before. I believe its from kazza or Divx.

Here is a few ideas that may get rid of it.

1st, go to your add remove programs and look for anything that could be that. If you do not remember installing it, then delete it.

2nd, some programs come with gay things like the popular program Kazaa speedup comes with superbar and some other spyware programs. And if you delete them, they will reinstall or if they do not do that, kazaa speed up will not work with its spy ware gone.

3rd, go through your program files dir and programfiles/ common files dir and delete anything that you don't remember installing or that looks suspisious.

4th, go to your start menu and and select run. Type "msconfig" .
Select the "Services" Tab. At the bottom, you will notice that is says "Hide all Microsoft tasks" Check that then scan through what is running and disable what you do not want running.

Then click on the "Start Up " tab .Scan through this one also and disable anything that you do not need to start up. If this doesn't fix anything it will atleast make your pc load faster and use less memory.

Anyways, just a few ideas. Hope this helps.

Oh, also latest version of Spy bot or Adware should find it also. Go to downloads.com like the guy said above to dl the programs.
