latest service pack of what? to uninstall it hmm
go to control panel and then go to add/remove programs and look around if its there, well if its not there then its permanent.
I have no idea how to uninstall it but did you try speeding up your copmuter by defraging it? or deleting files and cleaning up your computer?

I don't like Service packs... create much trouble

Microsoft's update Q811493 can cause problems like this. If you have it installed, go to:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;819634

I would not recommend uninstalling it, it will cause you no end of problems.

Just back up what you have got that you want and do a fresh install of XP.

I don't like the service packs neither, but as Proddis said, it is better to backup your important files and to reinstall Windows. And since it is always recommended to format the HDD before installing windows...

Indeed: lets go back on track.
It's not you that I hate, it's the service packs ;) I always got troubles with them.

@Goins: are you saying now that after a clean installation of windows you still have these problems? Or are you saying that it is solved now? :)

never had problems with any service pack, what i would do is download the service pack and reinstall it again, then get the hot fixes for it @ the ms update site :)

The problem is not the patch: it's the junk that the computer accumulates over time.

Clean up your computer. Start with all cookies, then with the temporary internet files, then with all the temp downloads anf files you have stored in your computer.

Defrag the Hard drive, and check it for errors.

Make a backup of it just in case, and do a system restore point. Then install SP1.

Some of the programs you had will need updating also as some of them will not work with SP1... so try and look for the ones that need updating. :)

Hope this helps :)
