I ve been trying to download some stuff fromt MG and ive been having trouble. I tried the game fixes and the links start a download, but it downloads only 5.77kb which is way too small. When i try the file it says it has errors "not a zip file".

This also happens with fileplanet, and some other files ive tried here on MG.

I have downloaded some stuff succesfully from kazaa, "thats why i need the game fixes". :P therefore i know its not just my connetion or ports.

One thing has changed. I went to some site, which made me download a tri..something file downloader helper. it worked nicely on their site, but i think that it screwed up my auto download from IE. How can i fix this?

oh dear i hope u understand.

This problem is from your side, not MG, FilePlanet, etc ;)

Which browser are you using?

Are you using any download managers?

Try clearing your cache, history (temp internet files, etc) and see if that helps any.

As for the other program and the "autodownload"

Try uninstalling that program, and maybe do this:

My Computer-->Tools-->Folder Options-->[File types] tab-->[.zip]-->Advanced-->"Confirm Open After Download" (make sure this option is checked)

If you have this kind of problem with all your downloads, make sure you hve no firewall blocking it.
I tried to download something from MG just to test, but it worked fine here.

Ive tried what Vile sugjested and to no avail.

i'm running on Win 98 2nd so i had to look for that file option thing u were talking about. I have cleared my temp folder and cookies and i have removed the Stupid f***k of a program... however the problem persist.

i know its not MG or fileplanet that are at fault

but its with those two that i have the biggest problem.... or is it only with zip files? I'm not sure.

i downloaded a movie from some other no name site, and no problem, but it was mpeg file.

I dont know what to do.... and i'm rather lost without Mega games.com. I need those file fixes...lol...or else i'm going to die...of bordom.

To me it honestly sounds like a problem with just zips, but test it, and verify it.

Try downloading other types of files, zips, rars, etc.
Have a look in our downloads section here on the forums:
http://216.127.84.110/download.php

On our main page, we also have some official patches, and game demos that are in .exe format, try download a smaller one, and see if it works.

Basically I think you need to first narrow the problem down to exactly which type of files this happens to.

Also, have you tried using a differnt browser to test it out?

ive tried some .exe files...and it gives me the normal download from windows....file download thing....

but when i try it out with .zip (have not tried .rar) it gives me another format of "file download" and it has a little green icon in the top left corner.

Right click the link and choose save as.

Thats actually why I mentioned the download manger in my first post, becuase something like that is usually the problem.

As for the little green icon, I'm not sure what you are reffering to. Try posting a screenshot.

Ok i got it to work sorta...

the special program thinks the redir link is the thing to download.

i did a save as.. and it saved the redir link in html. when i clicked the htlm that i saved in my folder it broght me to the if the download does not begin page, then the download began and all went well.

now the thing is how do i get the stupid free downloader to understand properly? I have no clue....Thanks

I don't know what that downlaod program is, so can't say for sure, but I'd get rid of it completely.

Also, when right clicking-> save as, do it for the exact file, like when it says "if your download does not start automatically..." right click *that* link and save as. You'll kno when to do it becuase when you hover the cursor over the link, you'll see the path the link points to..ie.
