unreal 2 the awakening

I,ve finally found the no-cd/fixed exe for unreal 2 (v.1.0 ) but installing/replacing it in my game folder over the original exe has made no diffference as any time i try to run the game it asks for the play disc every time, i,m using the fairlight crack from gamecopy. someone help!

Not sure about this game, but for most games something must be done in addition to make the no-cd work.
If there is a folder on the CD that is called "Data" or something, you should copy it in the game folder.

BUT... as I said, I'm not sure if this has to be done for this game. So if there is already a data folder in the game folder, copy this data folder on a safe place somewhere on your Hard Disk, then copy the data folder from the CD to the game folder and confirm when it asks if you want to overwrite.
If you screw things up, you can still restore the data folder to it's original situation by re-copying the copy you made on your hard disk to the game folder.

Eventually i sorted it out, it took a lifetime of file and folder fiddling(not connected to gary glitter or mathew kelly in any way shape or form)and circumventing the desktop icon was again surpriisngly necessary even though it was targeted to the right file, perhaps security is written behind the icon?. again it was fairlight who came up trumps with a workable no-cd/fixed exe
