Quickrestore Cd problem!

I tried my quick restore cd on my computer and for some reason it just reads the disc for about a second. Then suddenly the screen turns black and nothing happens until I reset the computer. I've tried using quick restore cd in the past, although this is the first time I've experienced this problem. What's the problem or how can i fix it?

cd might be corrupt. if ur using win98 try creating a floppy boot disk then installing. make sure uve enabled the comp to boot from the cd in BIOS. call tech support from whatever company u purchased the computer from. HP was surprisingly helpful
