I have just noticed that my computer doesnt always shut down properley, it goes to the shut down win98se screen then freezes.
this happens about 3 out of 10 times.
Im not 100% sure but I downloaded some updates with the Win98se update link. Could this be the prob?
anybody else had same prob?

Check this out:

Also disable any antivirus program can solve the problem.

A firewall (especially ZoneAlarm) also seems to freeze the sutdown operation sometimes. I used Win 98 before Win 2000 and I had this problem when I installed the firewall.
With Win 2000 it just seems to slow down the sutdown process. If you have a firewall, best is to shut it down manually before shutting down the computer.
