Microphone messed up

I need help quick with this. I was play around with my volume settings in Win XP and i did something that messed up my microphones sound recording ablitiy. It was working before i changed some settings, so im wondering is there a way to set the volume things back to Default.

Have you gone through the control panel? If you have the creavtive soundblaster utilites you just need to go through those.

no the mic works but theres a weird sound when the mic is on

check the huge volume control and see if somethings high up

there is no defalt, you need to just play with the settings. Check all the hardware first.

There is also a little speaker icon in the icon bar on the bottom-right of the desktop screen, see if the mic is not set to "mute" or something. Also check the volumes.
