Did you always have this problem, or is it just since a few time? I don't know how to fix this problem exactly, but I would suggest you delete all your cookies and temporary internet files. Also make sure you didn't mess up with some internet options that regard download handling.
I can't help you more :(, I cycled myself through my internet option to see if there was no such option that let's you choose your downloads folder, but I didn't really find anything :(

try and clear all temp files trough disc cleanup, located in system tools in start menu
clear cookies by going to name / local settings / temp
(view all files, folder is hidden)
if that doesn't help, go to IE settings -> advanced and press default button
and program tab -> restore settings
also you can try and reinstall IE (I guess you have version 6.0)
1) Insert the Win XP CD
2) Open Start / Run and type:
rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 c:\windows\inf\ie.inf
Press ENTER

I think, as I said in my previous post, it has indeed something to do with cookies and temp files. I once had a really strange problem on another forum, it was really a complete mess. Then I deleted all the temp files (the same way as Molle described) and all was fixed again. You have no idea what kind of garbage can be stored in these temp files

Get a hold of Window Washer m8. It sorted out a few probs that I thought I'd have to put up with 'till I did a format. I was put onto it by Gee Gee. She either posted a link or there's one in her sig.
Found it!

i like to think out of the box. look at the source...find the addy...make a page yourself...and put the link there. then open it...right click...save as or save to or whatever...
yah its kinda convoluted but i believe it would work
